Job Description
Constance Ephelia, a luxurious resort in the Seychelles, is seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Wine Storekeeper to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing our extensive wine collection, ensuring proper storage, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Oversee the organisation and maintenance of the resort's wine cellar and storage areas
- Conduct regular inventory checks and update stock levels in our management system
- Ensure optimal storage conditions for wine, including temperature and humidity control
- Assist in the selection and procurement of wines for the resort's restaurants and bars
- Collaborate with food and beverage staff to provide wine recommendations and pairings
- Handle wine deliveries, including quality checks and proper documentation
- Implement and maintain a systematic cataloguing system for easy wine retrieval
- Conduct periodic quality assessments of stored wines to ensure they remain in prime condition
- Assist in staff training on wine knowledge and proper handling techniques
- Prepare reports on inventory levels, consumption patterns, and reordering requirements
Qualifications
- Proven experience in wine storage management or as a cellar keeper, preferably in a luxury hospitality setting
- In-depth knowledge of wine varietals, regions, and storage requirements
- Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in inventory management and record-keeping
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in spreadsheet software and inventory management systems
- Wine certification (e.g., WSET) preferred
- Food safety certification
- Physical ability to lift and move cases of wine and work in a cellar environment
- Ability to adapt to and work efficiently in a tropical climate
- Passion for wine and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of wine care and service
