Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Commis to join our culinary team at the luxurious Constance Moofushi resort in the Maldives. As a Commis, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests in this tropical paradise.
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes according to our high-quality standards and recipes
- Support senior chefs in daily kitchen operations, including mise-en-place and food production
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, equipment, and utensils
- Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures as per HACCP standards
- Ensure proper handling, labelling, and storage of food items
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across all kitchen sections to ensure efficient service
- Assist in receiving, checking, and storing deliveries in compliance with hygiene and safety standards
- Help with daily stock rotation and report any shortages or quality issues to superiors
- Communicate clearly with team members and report any operational issues promptly
- Take pride in presentation, taste, and portion accuracy to uphold our resort's culinary standards
Qualifications
- National Certificate or Diploma in Food Production / Culinary Arts from a recognised hotel school or training institution
- Minimum of Form 4 or equivalent education
- 1-2 years of experience in a hotel or resort kitchen environment, preferably in a 4 or 5-star establishment
- Exposure to different kitchen sections (hot, cold, and garde manger) is advantageous
- Proficiency in basic food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and use of kitchen equipment
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, safety, and sanitation procedures (HACCP awareness preferred)
- Ability to follow recipes, portion standards, and instructions from senior chefs accurately
- Good command of English and French, both spoken and written
- Passionate about cooking and eager to develop professionally in the culinary field
- Well-groomed, punctual, and disciplined with a positive attitude
- Excellent team player with strong communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and work demands
- Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards in food preparation
