Job Description
Constance Ephelia, a luxurious resort in the Seychelles, is seeking a talented and dedicated Chef de Partie to join our staff canteen team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary skills while ensuring the highest standards of food quality and service for our valued staff members.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes for the staff canteen, ensuring consistent quality and presentation
- Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating diverse and nutritious options
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to strict food safety and hygiene standards
- Manage food inventory and stock levels, minimising waste and controlling costs
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during meal service times
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Adapt menus to accommodate various dietary requirements and restrictions
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss improvements and address any concerns
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations
Qualifications
- Culinary degree or diploma from a recognised institution
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Chef de Partie in a staff canteen or in a similar role
- Proven expertise in food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation
- Strong knowledge of various cuisines and current culinary trends
- Proficiency in operating kitchen equipment and maintaining a safe work environment
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when required
- Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous
- Demonstrated expertise in menu planning and nutritional balance
- Proficiency in cost control and inventory management
- Knowledge of international cuisines to cater to a diverse workforce
- Familiarity with dietary restrictions and ability to adapt recipes accordingly
- Certification in advanced culinary techniques (e.g., sous vide, molecular gastronomy) is a plus
- Proficiency in using kitchen management software and digital inventory systems
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and reducing food waste
