Job Description
Constance Ephelia, a luxurious resort in the Seychelles, is seeking a talented and passionate Junior Sous Chef specialising in pastry to join our culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your creativity and expertise in a world-class kitchen while contributing to our guests' unforgettable dining experiences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Executive Pastry Chef in the daily operations of the pastry kitchen
- Create and execute a variety of high-quality desserts, pastries, and baked goods for all food outlets within the resort
- Develop and implement new pastry menu items, considering seasonal ingredients and guest preferences
- Ensure consistency in the quality and presentation of all pastry items
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
- Manage and train junior pastry staff, fostering a collaborative and professional kitchen environment
- Assist in inventory management and cost control for the pastry department
- Collaborate with other kitchen teams to ensure seamless service delivery
- Participate in menu planning and special event catering as required
Qualifications
Candidate Requirements :
- Culinary degree or diploma with a specialisation in pastry
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with a focus on pastry
- Proven expertise in a wide range of pastry preparation techniques and baking skills
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, with relevant certification
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
- Creative flair and attention to detail in dessert creation and presentation
- Knowledge of international pastry techniques and current culinary trends
- Proficiency in menu planning and recipe development
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team
- Flexibility to work in various shifts, including weekends and holidays
