Job Description
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Commis to join our culinary team at the luxurious Constance Halaveli in the Maldives. As a Commis, you will play a vital role in supporting our kitchen operations and delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes, following recipes and chef instructions
- Maintain a clean and organised workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
- Support senior chefs in mise en place activities and daily kitchen operations
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and high-quality food production
- Assist in the proper storage and rotation of food items to minimise waste
- Participate in menu planning and development, offering creative input when appropriate
- Help with inventory management and stock rotation
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils
- Adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently during peak service times
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment in the kitchen
Qualifications
- Basic culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Excellent time keeping and organisational skills
- Strong teamwork and communication abilities
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Food safety certification preferred
- Previous kitchen or food service experience is a plus
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 11 kg
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Basic knowledge of Maldivian cuisine is advantageous
- Ability to adapt to and work comfortably in a tropical climate
- Passion for culinary arts and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes
- Detail-oriented approach to food preparation and presentation
