Meribel Nanny Services is owned by Nicole Wallbank a qualified British nanny and Maternity nanny who has been working in Meribel for over 18 years. 11 Years ago I realised, while working as a freelance nanny that there was a gap In the market for a company providing high quality, reliable childcare. A year later Meribel Nanny Services began its first winter season and has been thriving ever since.
The first season started with 2 nannies plus myself nannying full time for the season, the team then expanded every year, up to having 10 - 15 nannies on the team working in the Courchevel and Meribel Valleys.
Being part of an ever-expanding company is an exciting prospect for anyone looking for a new adventure, holiday nannying is a fantastic experience, it requires a lot of energy, positive attitude and a flare for being confident and organised.
The Job -
Meribel Nanny Services are a nanny agency, so all the nannies are self-employed (Auto Entrepreneur) and are paid directly by the client, rates are from 25€ - 30€ per hour. Accommodation, travel, lift pass etc are not included with the job, however support is provided in advance to get organised for the season, including helping to find accommodation, finding room mates (which are often other nannies) and organising travel arrangements, ski hire etc
Once in resort you are required to take part in a 3 day resort training course, which will set you up to jump straight in to your first week of childcare, prepared, organised and confident.
The training covers all aspects of the job, resort orientation, equipment training and paediatric first aid. (dates of training TBC, but are usualy 3/4 days before resort opening, so you can get a bit of skiing in before the first week of guests)
Training is also a great time to get to know your fellow nannies, we really emphasise team bonding at Meribel Nanny Services, although you are all self employed, its important you know other people doing the job so we can organise play dates and it means when you have weeks where you are working together, you already know each other, making the week run much smoother and it really means a much nicer season for our new nannies that are arriving on their own.
Working hours and bookings vary each week depending on the clients requirements, this means there are super busy weeks where you are simply working as much as possible and making as much income as possible and other weeks where you are working more part time and can get out on the mountain more, it's important to us that you get a good balance of work and play and the past years the nannies have loved the balance!
During peak weeks (school holidays) hours are likely full-time this would consist of you working 8 consecutive hours per day for 6 days, plus 1 - 2 evenings of babysitting the income for a full time week is 1200€ - 1400€ per week, on some weeks we may get requests for nannies to work more hours that this, this would always be discussed with you in advance.
Part time weeks are half days 9-1/2pm or 12/1 - 4/5pm hours and a popular package with both nannies and clients is the 36 hour package which often consists of you working 5 hours per day plus babysitting, this is a great booking as you make a good income but will also get time to ski aswell.
This is a very varied role, fun and a fantastic experience, many of the nannies either continue with seasonal work or even get offered jobs from families that they have worked for during the winter, it is a role for a more "mature nanny" who (although we help with all aspects of managing the booking) has the abilty to organised, reliable, flexible and manage their diary/bookings. However the role also offers flexibilty on our side that working on a French contract would not, for instance, if you have visitors we can look at our bookings and move you into something more part time (out of peak weeks)
