Rockley is thrilled to present a unique training opportunity for individuals to become qualified in a range of outdoor instructor activities for FREE. On completion of the course, you will then undertake a 11-week period of paid work during the 2026 season (subject to qualifications achieved), with the option of extending this.
While you do not necessarily need any previous experience or formal outdoor qualifications, you will ideally have a genuine passion for the outdoors. You will receive comprehensive outdoor instructor training by industry leaders, which will equip you with the skills needed to excel as an outdoor instructor in a variety of exciting and exhilarating water and land based activities.
The full Outdoor Traineeship is offered as an 8-week. A shorter 4-week programme is also offered but will exclude all water-based qualifications.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Assist in providing high-quality instruction to all students within the group once qualified
- Learn to instruct a variety of activities under the supervision of the Senior Team
- Learn to deliver evening entertainment activities as directed by the Senior Team
- Maintain standards of tuition for practical elements, ensuring group safety and welfare
- Be a positive role model, demonstrating the expected attitudes, values, and behavior to students
- Deliver activities in line with company and local operating procedures
- Comply with health and safety/operating policies and procedures
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people, raising concerns following protocol
- Ensure clients and staff follow safety procedures and policies
- Carry out equipment checks and maintain equipment stores inventory
- Perform basic maintenance and equipment repairs or dispatch faulty equipment for repair
- Engage in general center duties such as assisting in the kitchen and maintaining cleanliness.
