Job Summary:
The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing all ingredients and basic recipes to support daily service in the restaurant kitchens at the Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman. This role is key to ensuring all mise en place is ready on time and upholds the hotel’s 5-star standards for quality, cleanliness, and safety.
Job Duties & Functions:
- Wash, peel, cut, and portion vegetables, fruits, proteins, and other ingredients as instructed by kitchen leadership.
- Prepare stocks, sauces, dressings, and other basic recipes to support the kitchen team.
- Properly label, store, and rotate all prepped items according to FIFO and food safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workspace at all times, following HACCP and local health guidelines.
- Assist in receiving deliveries, checking for accuracy and freshness of all products.
- Support the kitchen team during peak service times by preparing additional mise en place as needed.
- Follow recipes and standard procedures to ensure consistency and minimize waste.
- Work closely with colleagues to create a positive and efficient kitchen environment.
