Job Description
Constance Belle Mare Plage, a luxurious resort in Mauritius, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Steward to join our esteemed food and beverage team. As the Chief Steward, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of service and ensuring guest satisfaction in our dining establishments.
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the stewarding department, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of stewards, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Implement and maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards in all food and beverage areas
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure seamless coordination of services and events
- Monitor inventory levels, manage equipment maintenance, and oversee the cleanliness of all food and beverage outlets
- Develop and implement training programmes to enhance the skills and knowledge of the stewarding team
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies
- Handle guest feedback and complaints promptly and professionally, striving for optimal guest satisfaction
- Participate in budget planning and cost control measures for the stewarding department
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a luxury hotel or resort setting, with a proven track record in food and beverage service
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within the hospitality industry
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field (preferred)
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service
- Demonstrated organisational abilities and effective time management skills
- In-depth knowledge of food and beverage service standards and best practices
- Proficiency in hospitality management software and systems
- Up-to-date food safety and hygiene certifications
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French or other languages is advantageous
- Flexibility to work in a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
