Job Description
Constance Halaveli, a luxurious resort in the Maldives, is seeking a professional and knowledgeable Sommelier Clerk to join our esteemed food and beverage team. In this role, you will be responsible for enhancing our guests' dining experiences through expert wine recommendations and pairings.
- Provide exceptional customer service by offering expert advice on wine selection and food pairings to guests
- Maintain and organise the resort's wine cellar, ensuring proper storage and inventory management
- Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for guests and staff
- Assist in training restaurant staff on wine knowledge and service techniques
- Manage wine inventory using POS systems and basic mathematics skills
- Stay informed about current wine trends and new products in the market
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and resort standards
Qualifications
- Sommelier certification from a recognised institution (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine & Spirit Education Trust)
- Basic knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and food pairing principles
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on creating memorable guest experiences
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Fluency in English; additional languages are advantageous
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Passion for the hospitality industry and continuous learning in the field of wine and beverages
