We are looking for Instructors to look after various water sport activities at our riverside centre in this beautiful valley.
You will be teaching people from all walks of life how to canoe, build rafts, lead river trips, kayak on the River Wye & Symonds Yat Rapids, Paddle Board and much more.
Who are we?
We are a family run company, built off 40+ years of kayaking and canoeing experience. Leading us around the globe doing many first descents of rivers in Nepal, India & Chile to name a few.
We are strong believers that everyone should experience adventure in their lives, the activities we provide are fun, educating and most importantly safe.
We use the best equipment on the market, we train to the highest standards which regular coaching sessions with our level 5 canoe and kayak coach
We put a lot back into our local community, helping fund raise for various charities, schools and scout groups. We also chair our local canoe club, the Symonds Yat Rapids preservation group and sit on the Wye navigation board. All to help keep the sport alive, access open to paddlers and look after this beautiful area.
We are a little biased, but our staff team are fantastic and are a true reflection of what we want to provide, we encourage everyone to get out to practice & experience what we offer.
The Role
· Welcome customers and prepare them to take part in their activity.
· Lead Kayak, Canoe, Raft Build & Stand-Up Paddleboard Sessions
· Assist in briefings and manage equipment for canoe river trips
· Ensure customers complete any necessary paperwork to comply with our health and safety policies.
· Issue and ensure the customers have the correct safety equipment (buoyancy aids, Helmets etc)
· Administer first aid if necessary and to your skill level, including report any accidents or incidents.
· Assist with customer enquiries and bookings. (although we have dedicated office based staff to cover most of this)
Personal specification
· To have a strong ethic for safety for yourself and your clients above all else.
· Be able to work under your own initiative without supervision after training.
· High standards of personal hygiene and appearance (uniform is provided)
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Must enjoy working outdoors and be prepared for mother nature.
· Be able to either live on site or travel to work each day.
· Able to perform all physical duties
· Have a passion for Paddle sport
Desirable
· Paddle sport qualifications
· First Aid certificate
· Paddling experience
Contract
We operate from April to October – though returning staff are encouraged and welcomed.
Rate of pay
Dependant upon age and experience. Discuss this with us, we reward staff for doing a great job.
Holiday Entitlement
28 days (Pro Rata).
