The Technical IT Project Manager reports to Newbuild Program Manager. The Technical IT Project Manager proactively plans, coordinates, and drives projects so they are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and budget, while meeting all brand guidelines. Liaises with IT Product Teams, to review build and deployment documentation, to ensure they include all relevant information including Cyber Security requirements. The Technical IT Project Manager will lead the Newbuild Deployment Team members, to ensure all the hardware is inventoried and configured correctly to fleet standard and is ready for deployment to the vessel within the specified timeframe.
Meet with Product teams to review build documentation and evaluate deployment plans. Build documents have detailed descriptions outlining the technical configuration and settings for all systems. The deployment plan is a set of steps to successfully set up the system in the area and may include servers, resources, peripheral hardware, system settings, testing or other details. The role is accountable for being informed and providing consultation.
Develop detailed project plans, schedules and resource allocations. Project plans are detailed documentation using varied systems to ensure all steps, timelines, resources, hardware, documentation, risks, testing plans, or other details of the project hardware are defined to ensure successful completion on time and on budget. The role is accountable for making decisions, being informed and executing actions.
Coordinate with team members to meet project deadlines, ensure all documentation, hardware, software, testing scripts, or other necessary details are provided to be successful. Provide reporting on team member activities to ensure any escalations, risks or other challenges are resolved in a timely manner. The role is accountable for being informed.
Receive and inventory all the hardware that has been purchased for the project. Work with Logistics and Warehouse teams to ensure hardware is received and is ready for transport onboard a vessel from the shipyard warehouse. Escalate and track all missing or delayed hardware. The role is accountable for being informed and executing actions.
Identify ways to improve the technical configuration process including adherence to company approved imaging, IT Security policies, Cyber Security policies, company approved certification process or other company standards. The role is accountable for being informed, making decisions and executing actions.
Participate in meetings to give updates and status on application and hardware progress while highlighting risks and determining mitigation actions. The role is accountable for being informed and making decisions.
Communicate project plan status on a regular basis to project team and project stakeholders. Ensure adherence to project management methodologies and quality standards. The role is accountable for being informed.
Participate in project reviews to evaluate outcomes for continuous improvement. The role is accountable for being informed and making decisions.
Qualifications & education:
Requires a bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent specialty area from an accredited university.
One or more years of experience supporting and managing projects, technology projects, shipbuilding, or ship revitalization projects.
PMP Certification preferred.
One or more years of experience with project management tools like Jira and MS Project is preferred.
Must have or can obtain a valid passport and visas when necessary.
Shipboard and/or crew experience preferred.
Strong leadership skills with proven experience engaging with people and managing travel for two or more years.
Software proficiency of 2 years or more with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Sharepoint required.
Solid written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. Ability to use various communication methods include email and chat software including Teams.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
Detail oriented with excellent analytical, financial, and spreadsheet modeling skills.
Ability to multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Travel includes 4 to 6 months dedicated travel during the yard execution phase of the project. Expectations of travel is 80 - 90% of the deployment phase. The candidate will need to be in possession of a full valid passport and have no restrictions for travel in any country. Also, the candidate must be able to successfully apply for work visas or other foreign country requirements like tax IDs when required.
Work will take place in warehouses, shipyards, offices, and onboard marine ships.
This position may regularly travel domestically and internationally.
